Tutoring Services

We provide specialist SEN support for children and young adults.

1:1 Tuition

Our hand selected, enhanced DBS registered tutors have gone through a vigorous process to work with us. The tutors we work with stand out as they have an executive function aware approach to their teaching. Executive functions are a set of skills that reside in the prefrontal cortex and underpin core skills relating to organisation, working memory, staying focused and sticking to deadlines amongst many others. Many of our tutors are also trained executive function coaches.

Our specialists work with both neurodivergent and neurotypical students who simply want to fulfil their potential. We work with children in primary education all the way up to university education who may have SEN diagnosis such as: Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia. ADHD, ADD, PDD, Dyscalculia, Sensory processing issues, Speech delay,  Depression, BPD, Emotional issues and Global Developmental Delay. Our tutors are also experts in ensuring their approach is sensitive to eating disorders, gender related issues as well as social issues at school.

1:1 tuition is a great way to form a working bond so that students can form a working relationship with tutors to achieve their potential. This can be done both online and in person both achieving the same fantastic results.

Homeschooling

Whether your child is neurotypical or has a diagnosis such as Autism, Dyslexia, Dypraxia. ADHD, ADD, PDD, Dyscalculia, Sensory processing issues, Speech delay,  Depression, BPD, Emotional issues and Global Developmental Delay, mainstream school may not be the best place for your child, despite their best intentions.

We are able to plan a homeschooling timetable that will fit any academic and pastoral needs your child has, and deliver this in a bespoke way that suits your family life with either one or several tutors. As our tutors have expertise in SEN needs, this can ensure that your child is able to thrive in the home environment. These timetables can be holistic in nature and ensure that goals set out both improve your child's well being, future opportunities, academic performance and ability to thrive in society.

EHCP Funded Placements

There are instances where SEN children simply cannot be in mainstream education and this is agreed by both the school and the local authority (LA). In this case your child with special needs will be given an Educational and health care plan (EHCP) meaning the local authority will fund children to receive the extra support they need. We are now seeing more parents than ever, beginning to take control of this funding to make choices regarding their child's education and to ensure that their special educational needs are being taken care of.

We can provide support to families in gaining this budget and devise home learning projects that ensure your child will thrive both in the present and the future. These projects do not have to be academic but can simply fulfil your child's interests, passions and personal needs.

Having individuals supporting, managing and documenting this learning means that we are able to meet the requirements of the local authorities providing the funding. We would typically use a montessori approach but during our consultation this can be bespoke to the best approach for the child.

Assessments

There are many points where it can feel overwhelming as a parent of a neurotypical or a neurodiverse student as to where the next best environment would be for your child. Typically these stages are at the 11+ entry phase or the University selection stage, despite this we can do a full assessment of your child’s progress at any stage of their education

Here at The Code we provide a full consultancy package including an assessment of your child's strengths and weaknesses and a plan of the next steps for them:

This includes:

  • An in depth discussion with yourself

  • An informal discussion with your child

  • A selection of evidence based tests that demonstrate strengths and weaknesses

  • Full review of school reports and educational psychologists reports

  • A plan including recommendations and next steps moving forward for both school, university choices and any of other specialist tutors to ensure that steps are being made

  • On-going support from our director or one of our in house consultants

Coaching

If you are a student or adult looking for executive function coaching, our partners at Connections in Mind can help. Executive functions are the basic skills of self-management that allow people to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Connections in Mind are executive function specialists, who support children, students, adults and teaching professionals to work more effectively, develop confidence and encourage sustainable success in educational, professional and daily life.

Group Tuition

We also run small interactive online tuition groups for those looking for a more affordable option. Students will receive a weekly video introducing that week’s topic, and attend an online session with other students where they can practise those skills and learn from each other.
